Course Description

Objectives of the Cardiac Arrhythmia course:

  • Identifies and describes key components of the cardiac anatomy and physiology.
  • Identify the landmarks of the ECG waveform and demonstrates correct measurements.
  • Identifies the different types of sinus rhythms, atrial rhythms, junctional rhythms, heart blocks and ventricular rhythms.
  • Demonstrates ability to recognize the difference between single and dual chamber pacemaker on ECG rhythm strips.
  • Demonstrates ability to identify cause of arrhythmias along with appropriate treatment(s) & nursing interventions(s).

This class is a hybrid course. Two days include interactive lecture, group rhythm, identification, small group practice times and time for Q & A.


The cost of the course is $249. Cost includes all documentation, test calipers, slide rules, online support, access to CCSU online libraries and completion certificate.

Instructor Information

Catherine Thomas

Clinical background on critical and telemetry units with both cardiac and medical

populations. Held ACLS certification for over 10 years. Original telemetry course taken in

1991. Taught cardiac arrhythmia courses at Baystate Medical Center as Clinical Nurse
