Strategic planning is often viewed as an “event” and not considered a critical process in focusing and aligning resources to the “Must Do, Can’t Fail” priorities of the organization. In this workshop, participants will be taught a robust process for strategic plan development and execution that will help answer the following questions for the organization: Who are we? Where are we at? Where are we going? How will we get there? How are we doing relative to the plan? How can we improve? Participants will understand the key role of strategic planning to achieving desired organizational improvement and on “getting the right things done”.
The workshop will include in-class exercises, case studies and practice with the strategic planning methodology. Topics covered during the workshop include:
David’s professional career includes 26 years experience in manufacturing and healthcare complemented with 16 years of teaching experience at Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in Operations Management, Lean Systems, Six Sigma, Project Management, Technology Management, and Systems Modeling. He is also the instructor for the Lean Enterprise Certificate Program at the CCSU Institute of Technology & Business Development. He is the founder and principal of Vizibility LLC, a management consulting firm, focused on strategic planning, operations strategy & management, and Lean/Toyota Production System implementations in manufacturing and service industries. David has held Director-level positions in Operations, Process Improvement, and Supply Management for Yale/Northeast Medical Group, Hartford HealthCare Medical Group, Clinical Laboratory Partners, and United Technologies Pratt & Whitney where he was mentored by sensei from Shingijutsu Consulting Ltd. in lean manufacturing practices. He is co-author of the Shingo-prize winning book, Better Thinking, Better Results, and has (8) peer-reviewed publications. David has a MBA & MSME from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a MS in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a BSME from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
