John G Sawyer, CFPIM, CIRM, CSCP, CLTD
John Sawyer retired in 2010 after spending 22 years with Sikorsky Aircraft. During that time, John was a
Part Planner, Project Manager for Sikorsky's MRP Simulator, and Manager of Systems and Programming
for Sikorsky Aircraft's Distributed Shop Floor Control implementation team. He has over 50 years’
experience in Manufacturing and Management Systems. John has been an Independent Consultant, and
has also held positions of Director of Management Systems and Manager of Manufacturing Systems.
Mr. Sawyer has held technical positions in data processing, as well as supervisory positions in Production
Control, Manufacturing, and Retailing.
A member of APICS since the late 60's, John has taught Certification courses at the local chapter level, as
well as both Production and Inventory Control and Data Processing at the collegiate level. John is a
charter member of the New Haven Chapter of APICS, and served as its fourth President. In addition to
spending many years on the board of APICS SEMINAR I, John was also Secretary/Treasurer of APICS
Region I for 18 months.
John is a graduate of Boston University, and has done graduate work at both Syracuse and Cornell
Universities. He is CPIM certified by APICS at the fellow level, and holds the APICS CIRM, CSCP, and CLTD
certifications. He is an APICS Master Instructor of CPIM, a Lead Instructor of CSCP, and an Associate
Instructor of CLTD. He is a frequent speaker at colleges and professional societies, and has spoken at
the APICS International Conference.
