Lean Enterprise Tool Certification

Lean Enterprise improvement practitioners are trained professionals that do process and product improvement project work.  This training provides the methodology and tools to begin the journey for improving processes, services, or products, in order to achieve performance breakthrough.

Curriculum

This program is designed for working professionals to gain hands-on practice with applying the methodology and principles of Lean to business processes to provide improved value and service to customers while driving improved performance in productivity and employee engagement.  The Lean methodology and principles are robust and can be applied to any business.   Case studies/examples and readings will be explored that align with the participants professions (i.e. healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, etc.).   This program promotes a “learn by doing” approach as participants complete an applied project as part of the program.

Plan-Do-Check-Act improvement cycle

Process stability & standardization

“Just-in-Time” and “Quality at the Source” principles

Value Stream Mapping

 

Program Objectives:

  • To provide a methodology for structuring process improvement projects within an organization.
  • To provide a sound understanding of the principles and tools used in Lean process improvement.
  • To apply the methodology & principles to a work-related improvement project.

 

Who Should Enroll

Anyone interested in Lean Enterprise improvement and applying these skills to their profession.  Cases unique to various industries will be introduced.  No prerequisites required.

If you are a CT manufacturing company with less than 2,000 employees, not receiving other funding, you may qualify for 50% funding by the CT Dept. of Labor for eligible classes.  Complete the DOL Form and email to davissm@ccsu.edu for approval prior to registering.

Instructor

Mr. David Stec

David’s professional career includes 28 years experience in manufacturing and healthcare complemented with 16 years of Graduate-level teaching experience at Central Connecticut State University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.  He is the founder and principal of Vizibility LLC, a management consulting firm, focused on the design & implementation of Lean Process Improvement Systems in manufacturing and service industries.   David has held Director-level positions in Operations,  Process Improvement, and Supply Management for Hartford HealthCare Medical Group, Clinical Laboratory Partners, and United Technologies Pratt & Whitney.  He is co-author of the Shingo-prize winning book, Better Thinking, Better Results, and has numerous peer-reviewed publications.  David has a MBA & MSME from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a MS in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a BSME from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
