Curriculum

Learn the keys to effective training and development efforts. Understand the value of aligning training strategy to organizational mission, vision, and goals. Explore adult learning principles and focus on the overall training process, including needs analysis, design and development principles, delivery methods and evaluation techniques. Students will also have an opportunity to design and deliver their own training program.

Attendance is mandatory; one excused absence is allowed per course.

Who Should Enroll

The certificate is designed for professionals entering the HR field, entry- to mid-level managers, small business owners or anyone needing to brush up on their HR skills.  New supervisors or managers looking to gain knowledge might benefit too.

Instructor

Mary Jo Leahy is a talent development professional with over thirty years of experience working in diverse settings with a wide variety of clients. She is currently the Global Director of Talent Development for Workhuman, a human resources technology company on the cutting edge of employee wellbeing and strategic employee recognition – and the resulting impact on overall company growth and success. Throughout her career, she was responsible for the design and delivery of training programs for organizations in many industries, most notably health care, manufacturing, construction, financial services and social services. In addition to running her own firm, Leahy Resources, for over twenty-five years, Mary Jo has been employed with Harvard-Pilgrim Health Care, Lynch Ryan & Associates, Inc., and General Instrument Corporation. She holds a BS degree in Human Resources Management from UMass-Dartmouth and an MBA from Bentley College.
